Ever since I was young, I really wanted to live a normal life.
You know, move out of home, become independent and there's no way I could do that without social care.
My name is Sophie Christiansen. I competed at the London 2012 Paralympic Games and won 3 gold medals.
The main thing that made me be able to go out there and achieve was having the right support.
You know, my family were amazing when I was young.
Having the right support and being able to find it is key...
...especially if you're disabled because it is harder. There's no denying that.
You know, people saw me winning three gold medals last year would automatically think that I've got my life sorted...
...but I still struggle with finding carers and getting funding for them.
If I'm struggling as a quite high profile individual, what is it like for other people...
...who maybe don't have the same amount of support or confidence to get what they need?
I've really found that the social care offered to me is very, very basic.
I think everyone has the right to the right support and care that they need in order to live the life they want.
"I care."
