"Sea of oil
water with the density of milk
unwavering in front of my amazed eyes"
This new project is called "Ressac" (Backwash in English)
as I wrote the sketches of the music facing the sea.
I was looking to create even more bridges
between Classical and Jazz music.
I wrote three piano preludes played by a Classical pianist
as well as pieces for a bassoon solo and for a horn solo.
The idea was to record everything live.
No headphones, no additional recordings.
We then sought a big recording room with high ceiling
to allow space for the sound to breathe in.
My agent Paola d'Angela found the perfect place
for what I was looking for,
which is the Berthelot theatre in Montreuil (suburbs of Paris).
Straight away, I invited comedian David Belmondo
to write poetry with the music.
In fact every track is about an experience,
an emotion, a feeling, a colour.
I wanted the comedian to link Classical music with Jazz,
and to transport the audience into another dimension.
Gradually we came up with an entire show.
"I let myself go
by your streams that improvise my route
like my life improvises my faith"
In a few words, we can say:
the pianist is the white fairy,
the comedian, the inner voice
and the orchestra, the body and the heart.
