Welcome to the CloudStack with SolidFire Quality of Service demonstration video. In this video
we will demonstrate how we've integrated with CloudStack to natively manage your quality
of service settings all through the main CloudStack user interface. Inside of our environment,
we're going to look at the VMware clusters. We have 2 ESX clusters, so you see ESX hosts
one and ESX hosts number 2. Inside of primary storage right now, we have just the 2 primary
storage devices from each of those hosts. We're going to enable the Solidfire plug-in
via API. One simple command. From there, we'll now have a third SolidFire primary storage
that is now available. As you can see CloudStack has all of the information. We're now going
to create a disk offering and this is an administrator defined storage IOPS. This means that it's
going to be dictated by the creator of this offering that the min IOPS and max IOPS will
be 200 and 300 respectively. The second type of disk offering that can
be created is a user defined IOPS offering. Inside of this we're going to check custom
IOPS which will allow the user when provisioning a VM to select their IOPS. We're now going
to log in as a non-administrator user, and we're going to look at our VMware instances.
It's up and running. We're going to show you inside of vSphere that there is only 1 hard
disk [00:02:00] for this VM. This is just to verify. We're now going to
add a volume to this VM, and as you can see we have the SF user defined IOPS available,
but we're going to select admin IOPS. We'll attach the volume, go back into vSphere to
verify that that volume has in fact been attached, and as you can see, there is now a second
hard disk. Now showing what happened inside SolidFire you can see that we were able to
create that account and create the volume. Now let's look at the quality of service that
was set on that volume and you'll see that it was the exact min and max that was dictated
by the admin defined IOPS. Thank you for watching the CloudStack with SolidFire Quality of Service
demonstration video.
