How can you tell if your PIP implants are ruptured? Well, the difficulty is that,
in many cases, you can't tell. We've treated a number of patients over the last year who
had no idea that they had ruptures. They had no symptoms in their ***. This is called
a silent rupture, because there are no symptoms, and the patients are often very surprised
to find out that they had ruptured implants within them. We do record the videos of the
procedures so the patients can actually see how the PIPs look. We do give the PIPs back
to the patients to show them exactly what appearance they were in. So, with every person
with a PIP, we do generally recommend that they do have a scan, at the very least, an
ultrasound scan or possibly an MRI, and I've talked in other videos about the pros and
cons of each of these. You can see these videos by clicking on the link in the description
below. So, in summary, you can't tell whether your PIPs are ruptured. Scans will give you
a very good indication, and if the scan does show a rupture, we would certainly advocate
exchanging the implant. If the scan doesn't show a rupture, there are a number of options
available for you. Again, I'll discuss these in other videos in our series, and you can
see these by clicking on the link below. How can you tell if your PIP implanted ruptured
