(Brian) Hi, I’m Brian Holman from Close To My Heart. Today I want to show
you some of the helpful features you’ll find inside the Close To My Heart
Cricut® Artiste cartridge booklets. These features make creating projects
using the Artiste cartridge simple and rewarding. Your Artiste cartridge
comes with two booklets. The first booklet is spiral bound and it’s your
cartridge handbook. The second booklet is the assembly instructions for 3-D items.
The cartridge handbook has images of all the projects you can create with
your Artiste cartridge on pages 23 through 30. Below each image of the
finished project is a page number. This tells you where in the handbook
you’ll find the corresponding Creative Features for that image.
When you turn to a particular Creative Features page, there is a key guide.
You’ll notice that images in matching colors are coordinating pieces.
This helps you to quickly identify all the pieces you need to cut for
the final product you are creating. Additionally, the coordinating colors
indicate that, for each piece you cut, you will set the Size Dial to the
measurement you want the image to be when it is assembled. You cut all
the project’s pieces using just the one size. This ensures the Cricut®
machine will cut the coordinating pieces, such as this skull and coordinating skeleton,
proportionately for assembly. Together, these two pieces are 4" when assembled.
You can also choose to not cut pieces proportionally. If you want the
skull shape that measures 4" when it’s cut, rather than when it’s assembled
with the skeleton piece, select the Real Dial Size on your Cricut® machine or
the keypad overlay and set the measurement you desire the image to be cut.
The Artiste cartridge not only offers you accents and card options, it
also lets you create 3-D objects. You’ll notice that the cartridge handbook
has measurements listed in red typeface under the 3-D objects.
The horizontal arrow indicates the recommended assembly length for the object.
The vertical arrow indicates the recommended assembly height for the object.
And likewise, the diagonal arrow indicates the recommended assembly width for the object.
For best results when creating these 3-D objects, set the Size Dial of
your Cricut® machine to the recommended measurement or larger.
Any time you see a red “x”, this indicates the number of pieces you will
need to cut out in order to complete your desired accent, card, or 3D object.
When you see a green circle with a number on it, this indicates the page
in the assembly instructions booklet where you can see how to assemble a project,
like you see here. In the assembly instruction booklet, tick marks indicate
where you will score the paper, dotted lines indicate where you will
fold the paper, and arrows indicate the direction in which you will fold
the paper as your projects takes shape. Lastly, a glue bottle image
indicates where to place adhesive on the cut piece to hold your project together.
If you need to refer back to the cartridge handbook, the page number is
indicated in green again. If you’d like to make accents, cards, and 3-D projects
