Most of us think that allergies are caused only by the food allergens, but this is not
true. Allergy can also be caused by mosquito bites. The allergy which arises as a result
of a female mosquito bite is known as a mosquito allergy. The female mosquito feeds the human
blood by injecting its saliva. The saliva when injected into the blood stream stops
the blood from clotting. The protein paves way for the blood to flow into the mosquito's
mouth.
The saliva protein is considered to be an allergen as far as this mosquito allergy is
concerned. The symptoms for mosquito bite will change according to the count of bites.
The allergic reactions may occur immediately or after sometime. In the delayed reaction,
the person may feel some sort of irritations in and around the area. Anaphylaxis, uriticaria
and angioedema are some of the severe reactions of mosquito allergies. The reactions keep
on decreasing in the upcoming days.
People exposed to outdoors are more prone to be affected by the mosquito allergy. The
other reasons for developing mosquito allergies are low immune power and immunodeficiency.
This allergy can be diagnosed by a kind of positive skin test, which is called as rast.
The test must be done only to those people who experience severe reactions. The mosquito
allergy can be reduced by avoiding the mosquito infested area or by removing the stagnant
water around the house. You can also apply mosquito repellents such as DEET to avoid
the mosquito allergy. You can prevent this allergy by keeping your environment clean.
