One day my fiance and I were
just kicking around on Facebook. She follows a lot of the
kids with cancer and prayer chains and things like that.
We came across the Battle for a Cure Foundation, their Facebook page.
They have a project they call "Hope Box" where they
provide presents for kids who have certain cancers
terminal kids are in hospice and such.
We grabbed a couple kids' names off the list, sponsored them, bought a couple gifts.
And of course, that felt great.
We were thinking, "there's got to be more we can do. What else can we do?" And my fiance
Nikki actually came up with the idea. She said,
"Well how about you offer the folks at your company
that if we raise enough money you'll get a mohawk."
And I said, "I'm fine with that."
I said, "If you guys combined can raise five hundred dollars, I'll get a mohawk."
I had a number of other employees stepping up and saying, "If it hits a thousand, I'll get a mohawk."
Or, "If it hits this much, I'll get a mohawk."
Jonathan, I hope this makes treatment a little bit easier for you.
Jim, you are one lucky dude. This is a really cool present.
I hope you enjoy it and I hope you feel better.
Merry Christmas, Autumn. I know you're gonna love it because I picked it out
personally and it's the
one I would want. Merry Christmas and I hope you feel better.
Merry Christmas, Elaina. I hope you can make all kinds of fun art with your new light tracer.
So actually, we started
tallying and keeping track on the fundraising board who would get a mohawk at what level.
Within six hours we had raised about twelve hundred dollars.
By the end of it, we raised over twenty seven hundred dollars
and from that we were able to purchase over a hundred gifts. We're gonna be wrapping those
today and then we'll end up sending those to the kids all over the country.
