Hey everybody this is Pastor Katin Davenport and I want to welcome to Praise dance 101
for non- praise dancers. The purpose of this presentation is to help non-praise dancers
whether pastors, congregate members, or church musicians. Whatever role you play in your
local Body of believers I am sure this brief video will help you understand and receive
praise dancing. Most pastors know the story of how King David danced before the Lord until
he came out of his clothes. Many believe that dancing looks sort of like this. Well, that
is good to dance in victory or break out in a spontaneous "shout" dancing. But, dance
in the church is not limited to spontaneous actions, that can be driven emotionally by
the strike of a chord on an organ. Praise dance is an expression of praise and worship.
It is an unspoken language. Think about it like this. If I were to do the moon walk,
what does that make you think of? Michael Jackson, right? Ok, what if you saw some dancing
on a pole and shaking their behind? What expression is that person making? They are making suggestive
and seducing messages that are really meant to drive men and sometimes women into fantasy
lusts. What if you see someone dancing, leaping and twirling with their hands lifted, maybe
bowing and looking towards the ceiling as they dance? That expression is praise and
worship. It is directed towards our Heavenly Father. You see, praise dance is not entertainment
until the pastor gets up to speak. Dancing gives a visualization or interpretation of
a song. Just like Beyonce has back up dancers, and she dances, her dances are choreographed
to go along with the song or the beat. Remember when "Crazy in Love" came out. Her famous
move went with the beat, interpreting the emotion of being "Crazy in Love" The secular
world has their expression and so do the people of God. Therefore, when you see a praise dancer
pouring out their expression to God receive it and join in. If they are using their expression to minister to the
congregation receive the words to the song and the expression of it. Be open and thankful.
You never know what can happen. You never know how the Lord can use a praise dancer
to minister to you. This is Pastor Katina Davenport of Dancing in the Spirit Foundation
of Liturgical Dance and I hope you receive this message with love and with an open heart
remember dancing unto the Lord is not entertainment but it is an expression of praise and worship
won't you receive a praise dancer today.
