Hello everybody CommanderAdz here and welcome to this Minecraft News update.
Minecon Tickets SOLD OUT
Last Thursday the first batch of Minecon tickets were released to the community, with the second
following on the Friday and the final batch of 2500 tickets following on the Saturday.
As you can expect with Minecraft having such a large and diverse community each batch sold
out within minutes leaving many people to speculate that bots were used by some individuals.
Vu, Mojangs CEO was quick to address the issue and in a blog post on Mojangs website he stated
"We choose to keep MINECON limited to a relatively small group of people so that we can interact
with them and give them the best experience possible. We split the ticket sales into 3
batches of 2500 to give people the most chance of being able to buy them when they are available,
whether they have jobs, school or other things that could get in the way of any one specific
time or day."
"Tickets are completely sold out, and we don't recommend buying them second hand from scalpers,
because they are terribly expensive and there's no way to guarantee that you will be getting
genuine tickets. We also won't be selling tickets at the door, because tens of thousands
of people could show up, and our venue is planned for the 7500 tickets we sold."
As of yet a image of the 2013 Official Minecon cape has not surfaced, however many believe
that due to last years cape being the second most voted for by the Minecraft community
from the 2011 Minecon in Las Vegas, this years will likely be one of the remaining unused
capes.
Minecon will once again be streamed for the people who sadly could not get a ticket, this
will probably be by Gamespot or IGN.
1.7 Scoreboard feature Over the past couple of days Dinnerbone has
been posting screenshots of a new scoreboard and statistics system, which is to implemented
in Minecraft version 1.7.
In a recent tweet, Dinnerbone mentioned that he could add 744 new objective criteria to
Minecraft, which would result in a lot of statistics and fun for mapmakers.
Speaking about mapmakers, Dinnerbone said they're "going to be very spoilt in 1.7 as
a result of hitting tab to complete the add objective command. The tweet also included
a screenshot of some of the new objectives mapmakers will be able to use.
Dinnerbone has a rather active twitter feed to say the least. This week he tweeted a concealed
message, which a reddit user cracked! The message supposedly read:
"Redoing the achievements and statistics system" - EMC_98 on Reddit
Forest,Volcano and Canyon biomes for 1.7 It is not secret that Jeb and the rest of
the Minecraft development team have some amazing features planned for 1.7. Recently on Twitter
Jeb has been posting screenshots of new biomes, namely these are a tall tree Forest/Woodland
biome and what looks like to be a Canyon biome formed from stained clay (Jeb referred to
this as "the disco biome"). He also posted a birds eye view screenshot of a 1.7 minecraft
world which suggests even more new biomes including a Volcano biome!
Travel back in time in Minecraft NEW LAUNCHER FEATURE!
Thanks to Minecraft's new launcher, Notch and Dinnerbone have been able to implement
a Time Machine feature which allows you to go back to the very early and quite buggy
versions of Minecraft.
Dinnerbone tweeted
"The oldest version so far is from May 2009. I couldn't find it online so let's call this
a new old release! Thanks for finding it, @notch"
"2 classic versions, an infdev version and a version before minecraft was called minecraft
have been added to the launcher"
