Hello and welcome to My Weekly Geekery, the show in which I talk about what's been
going on in my geeky world over the past seven days.
Top story this week is that nine previously lost episodes of Doctor Who have
been found.
They were found in Nigeria and feature Patrick Troughton's Doctor.
The lost episodes include all five missing episodes of 1967's
The Enemy of the World, episodes 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6,
and four of the five missing episodes of 1968's The Web of Fear,
episodes 2, 4, 5 and 6. They are now available to download
on iTunes. The Enemy of the World will be released on DVD
on the 25th of November with The Web of Fear following in 2014.
In other Doctor Who news, six new images have been released from The Day of the
Doctor, the fiftieth anniversary special. They feature Matt Smith, David Tennant and
John Hurt, and also Jenna Colman and Jemma Redgrave.
Ben Wheatley, director of Sightseers and A Field in England, will
direct the first two episodes of
Doctor Who series 8. And Steven Moffat has been confusing
fans by suggesting that we have miscounted the Doctors regenerations.
He says 'There's something you've all missed.' In not Doctor Who news, In the Flesh,
BBC Three's
zombie series is to return in 2014 for six new episodes
after its successful 3 episode run this year. Shooting began on series 2 last
week.
In a similar vein, Channel 4's conspiracy thriller, Utopia, will
also return for a second series in 2014. New cast members include Rose Leslie,
Ian McDiarmid, Tom Burke, Michael Maloney
and Trystan Gravelle. So in conclusion, MOFFAT!!!
