\f0\fs26 More news about the infamous sibling rivalry between Samsung and Apple... a high
court in the U.K. ordered Apple to rewrite a statement on its website to clarify Samsung\'92s
Galaxy Tablets didn\'92t copy Apple\'92s iPad. {\field{\*\fldinst{HYPERLINK "http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2411444,00.asp"}}{\fldrslt

\f0\b\fs26 \cf4 \'93...those hoping for a mea culpa from Cupertino shouldn't hold their
breath. Apple goes on to toot its own horn and highlight the parts of the judge's ruling
that criticize Samsung's tablets - particularly that bit about how the Galaxy Tab lineup is
"not as cool" as the iPad.\'94 \f1\b0\fs24 \cf0 \uc0\u8232 \u8232 {\field{\*\fldinst{HYPERLINK

statement from Apple also notes}} \f0\fs26 \cf4 ,
\b \'93\cf5 However, in a case tried in Germany regarding the same patent, the court found
that Samsung engaged in unfair competition by copying the iPad design. A U.S. jury also
found Samsung guilty of infringing on Apple's design and utility patents, awarding over
one billion U.S. dollars in damages to Apple Inc.\'94

\f0\fs26 \cf3 \ul \ulc3 The latest debate started in July when}}
\f0\fs26 \cf4 the court ordered apple to post a note on its website and to publish an ad
in magazines in newspapers to say Samsung didn\'92t copy Apple... but Apple appealed
the decision so the public apology was delayed. \f1\fs24 \cf0 \uc0\u8232 \u8232
\f0\fs26 \cf4 Now Apple must publish a correction to that statement on their homepage acknowledging
Samsung didn\'92t copy its design. \cf5 Though Apple did do that, it also added in details
from other court cases in the US relating to other non-design patents to suggest that
other courts had found against Samsung. {\field{\*\fldinst{HYPERLINK "http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/2012/nov/01/apple-samsung-statement"}}{\fldrslt

\f0\b\fs26 \cf5 \'93The ruling is the latest in a long-running battle between the South
Korean and Californian electronics giants, in which Apple and Samsung have since 2010
been at loggerheads over patents and designs used in their respective smartphones and tablets,
with lawsuits around the world.\'94 \f1\b0\fs24 \cf0 \uc0\u8232 \u8232 {\field{\*\fldinst{HYPERLINK

\b \'93\cf5 Personal opinion aside, the smartphone wars must stop. I wish all the parties in
all this foolish litigation would simply man up, say sorry, and reach non-punitive deals
with one another, so the focus could turn to products, not politics.
\f1\b0\fs24 \cf0 \uc0\u8232 \f0\b\fs26 \cf5 Everyone has attempted to
make their point, it\'92s time for litigation to end.\'94
\f1\b0\fs24 \cf0 \uc0\u8232 \u8232 \f0\fs26 \cf4 The altered statement will remain
on the front page of Apple's U.K. website until December 14. Apple has decided not to
take the issue to the U.K. Supreme Court. \fs24 \cf2 \
