Hello, my name is Dr. Susan Jewell and on behalf of Expert Village today I'm going to
talk to you about how to recognize and treat pain from headaches. Now in this clip we're
gonna talk about diet and food. Now there are certain foods that contains particular
compounds that can induce or trigger off headaches in migraine headaches or specifically migraine
headaches or other forms of headache. So for example in chocolate in chocolate we have
an ingredient and here you can see a bowl of chocolate which is you know very popular.
But in chocolate there is an ingredient tarimine and tarimine can also be found in alcohol.
And tarimine has the properties from studies, research studies that it can induce headaches
in some people. So if you know that chocolate is a triggering stimulus or alcohol cause
it has tarimine then I would suggest of course that you either reduce the intake of these
particular products that has tarimine or eliminate it from your diet all together. So knowing
the trigger factor and substances in your lifestyle and in your food and diet will also
help you to deal with the headaches from all the different types of you know like migraine
cluster headaches the pain from headaches. Now certain things like caffeine as well.
Caffeine in coffee in tea in some beverages like soft drinks. And some will have higher
content than others can also induce headaches in some individuals. So learn about these
trigger foods and make sure that you know you can break the habit of drinking coffee
if you know that's what's the caffeine content that's causing the headaches. Now it's recommended
not just for eliminating or trying to manage headaches and pains of headaches is also for
healthy lifestyle and healthy body is to drink water. Water is the best liquid beverage to
drink. And recommend that you drink at least six to seven glasses of water a day because
dehydration is also a major cause of headaches. When you also when you get dehydrated from
fevers and medical conditions. So always replenish your body with water and hydrate yourself
so that will also decrease your risk of getting headaches and the pain to manage the pain
from headaches.
