Hello, on behalf of Expert Village, my name is Joe. I run The Vug local jeweler in Salt
Lake City. Today, I'm talking about my tools. A jewelers torch is the basic of pretty much
of what we use. Now days, there using laser welders also. This is the traditional used,
this is a propane and oxygen torch. Some jewelers, including myself use acetylene and oxygen.
It's just a tip that's exchangeable, you get a smaller or bigger tip. You start with just
a gas flame. As you increase the oxygen it will increase the heat. This is used for normal
ring sizings. On chain repair, you might use a little smaller of a tip. The torch is the
basic of welding silver or gold jewelry.
