Intro: This video highlights the three statuses for
content objects, and briefly walks through the process for “recommending an action”
and selecting a “final action” for a content object.
Please note, the content objects used for this video are for demonstration purposes
only. The recommended actions and final actions taken may not be accurate, nor are they intended
to be. Please consult with Open.Michigan or your copyright office or legal team before
selecting final actions for content objects within your materials.
Click to statuses The three content object statuses are red,
No Action Assigned.
Blue, In Progress
And Green, Cleared
When content objects are uploaded into OERca their status is set to Red, “No Action Assigned”
by default.
Let’s take a look at the content object on Slide 9, which is currently set to Red,
“No Action Assigned.”
After reviewing the image on slide 9 we are ready to select a content type and to recommend
an action.
This is a photograph of objects, so we will select “Objects” within the photograph
section.
One of six recommended actions can be selected for this content object.
For now, we will select the “Retain: Copyright Analysis” recommendation. Next, we must
provide our rational for retaining this content object. In this case, we can write “limited
or no creative expression”
Click “Send to dScribe2” to send the rational message and the object to the Open.Michigan
team for further review.
Click “close” and this object’s status will be set to Blue – “In Progress”
You will receive an email when your object has been reviewed. The email will contain
a link to a response from an Open.Michigan team member.
In this case, “Retain: Copyright Analysis” may not have been the best choice, so the
Open.Michigan team member has selected “Searching” for the recommended action. An explanation
for why this action was recommended is also provided.
With this additional information in mind, you are now in the position to choose a final
action.
Select search
Then click “yes” for “is this content object cleared for publishing?”
Normally, in this situation, you will want to find and upload a replacement image before
selecting yes here, but for the purposes of this demonstration, selecting yes is ok.
The object’s status has been set to Green – “Cleared.”
