We’d definitely recommend that a first home buyer called you guys for support with the
process of buying their first home.
How did we help? Giving us confidence, lots of practical information
and helping us to narrow down the areas that we were looking in. Yeah, we looked for 18
months before we got the information we needed to make a decision. Matt was great at nailing
down our thinking to work out where we needed to be buying.
How long did it take you to buy a home? We looked for 18 months and we bought within
a month of using the service. We are educated people and we spent a lot of time looking
and we needed the help. The information didn’t have in our own heads came from this service.
It worked a lot faster than we thought it would. We were really able to decode all the
crap that real estate agents go through in order to sell you a house. And we felt armed
with knowledge which was the real key for us because we had none when we started.
One of the best things about the service was we finally had someone in our corner. Whereas
previously everyone was working for the seller. If you’ve dealt with real estate agents
for a few months and you are sick of them talk to Matt and talk to his mates.
Each year at the home buyers show we’d wander around looking for a service like this. That
could be in our corner and help us out with all the processes. Yeah, yeah, there are lots
of stalls at the home buyer show. You’ve got lots of real estate agents, lots of banks,
you’ve got a couple of buyer advocacy services but they are just too expensive. We don’t
have a lot of money and we want our first home and we’ve worked really hard to save
every cent of that deposit (even though its not recognised as a very hefty deposit. So
we can’t afford for that to be spent on advocacy and support services.
What about the value of our membership compared to other options?
It doesn’t compare. They’re in 2 different ballparks. We were talking $3,000, $5,000,
$8,000 for some of the advocacy services. And we were really unclear what they were
going to provide. The Real Estate Helpers told us what we were going to get and we got
it. And it was very inexpensive really. Don’t know how you make money.
It was also great to because we were resourced. We were still included in the process. We
were willing to work hard and find out the things we needed to and learn what we needed
all that jazz. And we were given the tools in order to do that.
Does this service really empower first home buyers?
Absolutely. Without question. We came in with no power and we feel like we could give them
(real estate agents) a run for their money now. The process of making the final offer
we feel like we did that with a guy in our corner to coach us through the stages.
We found a great place, and we made a great offer, and we weren’t taken advantage of.
We know didn’t pay too much and we don’t have to rethink that over the next 30 years.
Would you have bought a property yet had it not been for the service?
No way. Because we spent so long looking we needed the guidance. We were without a paddle
so to speak. We were spending a lot of energy and time going down to places that weren’t
going to be any good and Matt was able to put us on the right track which, time wise,
going to be some where you are comfortable living? Or are you going to need to do too
it over weeks and stuff like that we wouldn’t have been able to do otherwise
