Hi, my name is Gustavo Brigante and I'm a graphic artist
and designer from Buenos Aires, Argentina.
What I love most about my city is the vast number of places to visit.
Everytime I get the chance,
I travel through our provinces and visit new places.
It never ceases to amaze me –these places,
from mountains and glaciers to deserts, beaches and valleys. It's really a fantastic part of the world.
Most of my education is self-taught.
My 6 years at school taught me about calligraphy
and the possibilities provided by computers
to create different works.
I also learned the fundamentals of drawing,
and it helped me acquire the skills of patience,
practice and gave me a change to watch others doing the things that I loved.
I think I have very different influences.
What most influenced me in the beginning were music covers
and finding out who was behind those covers.
inspired me to take my job more seriously
and want to be in the same business that they were in.
Latin America has a very vast and rich contemporary culture.
However, at the beginning my jobs where not very influenced by it,
but more by it's emerging culture.
Today I'm most inspired by the native culture of Latin America
which I found profoundly rich on an artistic level.
I believe one word defines me very well, and that word is "perseverance",
because I always try to find
the right tools to keep me growing
from the very first day when I had no knowledge,
until today, I keep studying and working hard to improve my work.
I don't have a particular way of working for all jobs.
But for some particular jobs
like matte painting or Photoshop,
I start with a sketch and research everything that will go into the composition.
Before, I thought that
taking some time to rest when I was working,
or working non-stop was not taking my job seriously.
Later, I discovered that taking breaks
for my hobby or to play video games
allows me to find inspiration,
and keeps my mind fresh to work better.
I enjoyed working on the Fotolia project,
especially because I could demonstrate in the work part
of my own personality.
Even though it can get a bit hard to work with a free subject
because you sometimes get lost, it was still a pleasure to do.
- Something I really loved
was having all the possible resources
to be able to do this job.
We even had the option to
shoot photos that were
directly taken for this particular project.
I needed one more picture
for the central part of the project
-I wanted to have specific details
-an object that the model
in the picture had to wear.
That's why I decided
to speak to a photographer and go to his studio to take the image
specifically for the Fotolia TEN project.
I enjoyed producing
and shooting images
for this project and am happy
that those same pictures
will be part of the Fotolia collection
so that others can work with them.
I think 2013 is going to be a very good year regarding projects for clients
because I already have plenty of projects
that are going to be very interesting to work with
that are very similar to my many other personal projects
I would like to develop this year.
It is very important for me to have personal projects, because
in those moments, I can dedicate myself to creating
and experimenting with new things that I can’t do with client projects.
Sometimes those experiments
appear in client's works.
I think the best advice I can give someone
who wants to dedicate to this profession
is to work very hard, and above all perservere
even though sometimes things look difficult, don't give up,
because in the end you will find out you had the ability to succeed.
