Before replacing a part in any electrical appliance you must ensure that the appliance is first unplugged from the main. As with any Dyson the DC 38 contains a pre motor filter and a post motor filter. And it's recommended to clean them at least every three months. To access the pre motor filter press the cannister released button which will allow you to lift the canister off. You can lift the filter out of the middle of the canister. To access the post motor filter turn the vacuum onto its side and undo the glamour cap in the center of the wheel. You can then lift the wheel cover off. The post motor filter surrounds the motor and to release it undo the clips either side and lift it out. To clean the filters wash them up thoroughly under warm water before leaving them for about 24 hours or until they are completely dry. It may be a good idea to have two sets of filters So you can continue to use your vacuum with one set while the others dry. When replacing the post motor filter back into the vacuum make sure that the clips make a click as you push the filter in. Reattach the wheel cover unscrew the glamour cap back on making sure it clicks. If the filters are especially worn or dirty and it's better to replace them and these are available from Buyspares.
