Maybe you remember our last reportage about Arma 3's development.
It has been a while now, so we are curious if the team has some news.
Arma 3, of course, remains a tactical millitary simulator.
It is the same genre we introduced in our previous projects.
This time we will improve a lot of things, re-do them and expand others.
Arma 3 means big terrains, much bigger than in our previous games.
The player can go underwater completely freely,
customise the weapons, or suit up his soldiers. All that means big millitary enjoyment.
In other news, which are in fact not so new now, we heavily improved the underwater experience.
We have submarines, underwater exploration, detailed sea floor and much more to be discovered.
Looking around here, we are situated several hundred meters from the coastline of Stratis,
where we discovered the wreck of a sunken fishing boat.
As you can see we have a lot of fishes and other undersea life in Arma 3.
This vehicle is specifically designated for stealthy infiltration, so it is not discharging much bubbles or other things that could give its position away
As we can see, even the sea bottom includes some nice rocky formations.
And now I can switch, which is not very realistic, to the commander seat
and give order to remain at periscope depth.
Which enables me to make use of the periscope
and now you can see first nice shots from the Stratis island's coastline.
As you might already know, Stratis is not our main island.
Recently, we announced that againts our previous plans, we will have two islands.
Along the massive Limnos island, players will get a smaller hilly island called "Agios Efstratios" or "Stratis" in short.
This island will be the first base in Arma 3's campain.
Stratis is quite mountainous,
and it has a different vegetation than Limnos.
In comparison with reality, we added several villages, farms, small camps and of course the big radar facility, which I'm approaching now.
Same like with Limnos,we slightly adapt the terrain to make it better suited for our game and the players.
Now we are passing by the army base, ... big airport we can see there.
Everything that you see now is still under development, so some things don't already look as perfectly as we wish them to look like in the final product.
For the player, the Stratis island is a very interesting alternative to the much bigger Limnos and is the perfect playground for more compact battles.
Now we can take a look on a short gunfight between some Nato and Iranian soldiers.
As you can see, we improve animations.
This is something the player can experience better himself than he could from just looking at the screen
but I hope that this short preview shows you some details.
Of course we won't only be improving the usual animations, we also improve e.g. recoil simulation
and how the guns behave during shooting, so it corresponds to what our designers experienced on the shooting range.
And I still can't see any enemies...
I advance quite careleslly, for e.g. you can... oops that was quick.
Here you can see who was killed. "when you see the flash it's already too late".
Could tell us some more, maybe new stuff?
Maybe it was not mentioned yet, but there will be chem lights which you can brake and throw somewhere to illumiate. This is used very often by soldiers in the battlefield.
One of our new colleagues, who served in the military
found out that chem lights are in the game, after he joined to our team,
he was very happy, and is looking forward to how he will mark traces and landing zones in cooperative missions.
So even such small things can please a developer.
