Hi there welcome to HuwsNursery, and in this video I'm going to be taking some tomato cuttings
using quite a new way of propagating called aeroponics. So we are going to dive back in
to the solar tunnel and and we are going to propagate some tomatoes from the suckers.
Okay so our tomatoes have suckers on them again, it is just a thing you have to do every
week which is to go and check for suckers and yeah they are doing quite well the tomatoes
are, just about four feet tall I'm guessing, and yeah about three to four feet tall which
is what we have planed. Now this is the pot, the net pot that you will be having in the
aeroponics kit and it is only about 3 inches or close by. So we need to make sure that
our tomato suckers are the same size. Now suckers if you don't know what they are I
have a video about them about why it is important to take of tomato suckers to encourage big
growth, so check that out it have quite a lot of views on it. This is a typical tomato
cutting, what I'm going to do is just to take off, like that one of the ends. I don't need
that: Compost! It doesn't matter at all if you leave a bit of skin off as that will only
encourage more roots to grow and it will be covered in a growing medium so it won't rot.
Now this is a nice tomato cutting, very easy and the next thing I'm going to do as tomatoes
wilt very quilt, once you have taking it off simply pop it in a pot and then I'm going
to collect eight more. About three more of this size and maybe four of a larger size
so I will see you then. Now if you can see in the background and some behind this I have
actually got eight mint cuttings that have already rooted, now they do look a bit sad
after I've transplanted them but that is just natural and they will spring up in about 5
hours or so which is what I find with mint. Now the problem that I usually get when taking
cuttings of tomatoes is they wilt all the time and being in the poly tunnel things can
get really hot quite quickly so this is why I think this is such a great method to use
the Aero-Pot as it is always going to keep it (Cuttings) moist. Whereas just in a bit
of compost if it dries out for maybe just even half and hour it is simply going to be
the end of the cuttings. I am going to go and and get one of the small ones and we do
have a couple of varieties of tomatoes but I'm not going to able them as unfortunately
we don't have a very big growing season so they can't really grow, but I will try to
grow them due to the shorter growing season as we won't be able to get as much fruit before
the frosts. So I'm just going to put in a few of these like clay pebbles and then make
a gap in the middle like that and stick the cutting through and then cover around it and
that is one, wowww, and that is a cutting there. Now we are just going to place it in
like that and carry on going all around them. Get a pot, get a cutting out, fill with some
around the edges like that, stick in the cutting and go around so simple! Here are all of the
cuttings ready, we are now going to put in the clever machine that creates the fine mist,
you want to place it somewhere around the middle, then find the hole like this to thread
it through, and what's really clever is how it has a cap which blocks any moisture from
escaping. Which is good. So put that on firmly like so. Okay, and then get a hose and start
filling it up with water. Now you want to fill it about half and inch to and inch above
the mister. Ok so there is the Aero-Pot and we are just going to lift the plants up and
put it in like that. You might need to adjust them a bit to make sure that the lid fits
over. Here we have it, and then what you want to do is to turn it on at the plug on the
wall and leave it on all the time and it creates a really nice mist, you can see it in my first
video of this which will be as a link down in the description, and then simply put on
the pot and then a root should appear within a week. I hope you enjoyed this video, please
subscribe so you know exactly when this will be finished and check out a really good review
by RealVinceSamios, the link will be somewhere around in the video and he has done a really
good review about this, You can also buy this very kit down below, it is really worth the
money. Thanks for watching and see you again soon, bye!
