Welcome; my name’s Wakas and I’m a lecturer here at Worcester College of Technology, and today on my model what we’ll be doing is a long graduation.
I've sectioned of my model and I've gone from a natural parting which is on the right hand side, which is going to go towards the middle at the back.
And then what we’re going to do is start at the back first, work towards our right, left, and towards the front after.
Okay so I’m just taking a section which will go through the centre at the back, and you want it roughly the size of your comb.
What we’re going to do is we’re going to lift the hair up to ninety degrees to over direct it, and the reason why we’re doing that is we’re going to maintain as much length
as we can, but just layer it entirely, so she gets a little bit more volume on top.
So comb the hair all the way up, and if the length drops let it drop; you want to maintain the length. And what we’re going to do, is just point cut,
and what that will do is to get a bit more softness and a bit more versatility rather than blunt cutting.
Once you’ve got your desired result with your layers and your length, sub divide that section into half so you’ve got your guide for your right hand side.
And then just section this side off so it doesn’t get into your way.
What we’re going to do is rotate from that central point, so you can take your pivoting sections or your cheese triangles or your orange segments as they call it,
it's imperative that you actually do pivot from that point, and you get your layers all consistent on top.
So we want to take a little triangle section, bring it up, and you should have your guide from your previous section in there.
Let’s have a look at it. Look for your guide; you can see your guide, and just go in and point cut.
Subdivide that section, so you’ve got a guide for your next section, and just clip that to one side.
When that’s done, comb it down and you should be able to see the layers through there, and your length maintained on that side.
So what we’re going to do now, is clip that to one side, and then start on your left hand side.
I’m going to do exactly the same what we’ve just done on your right hand side there, and just make sure that you’re taking your triangles and
rotating from that central point.
Okay, so once you’ve done the back just ruffle your fingers through it just to get some movement into it, just to see that your layers are equal,
and then what we’re going to do is move on towards the front. So what we’re going to do is so we’ve got a bit of a guide for the front,
is take roughly a centimetre section just there, so you’ve got this guide towards your front, and then just comb that back there.
And what we’re going to do is the same the other side, so we’ve got our guide for the front there again.
The front section; okay, starting on our right hand side, what we’re going to do is take horizontal sections using the guide from the back, roughly the same length,
and what we’re going to do again is bring it up. To maintain the length at the front, I’m just doing to bring it more towards me, so we’re not cutting too much off,
look for your guide; if you can see you're guide, go through, and point cut again.
Keeping this still in your hand so you don’t drop it, take another section at the front, which is going to be roughly the same size, about a centimetre section from the front,
and join it into the previous section so you can use that as your guide. Bring it all the way back.
Look for your guide, and cut. So if you're cross checking, take a little section there you should be getting shorter at the back and longer to the front.
So the shape that we should have is going to be that there.
So what we’ll do now, is move on to your left hand side, and all we’re going to do there is repeat the same process.
So that is the whole haircut done, and what we’re going to do is go through and blow dry with some rollers into it just to give it more body, and a bit more curls at the bottom;
then we’ll see the finished look.
What we’re going to do is blast roughly ninety percent of the moisture out of the hair, the reason being you’re not going to put too much damage on the hair
from the heat itself, and not damage the cuticle itself either.
So start at the bottom, make sure you’ve got nice even sections, and just hold this to one side.
What we’re going to do is wrap the hair around the brush, to get some more body into it, and a bit of a curl. Keep going until your hair’s right around the brush,
and you’ve got a bit of a curl coming through.
Then all we’re going to do,
is wrap your hair round that roller and secure it with a pin curl.
So what the hair will do now is just cool around that roller, set it into place, so when you do take it out it will be a nice curl.
Keeping the tension even, just roll your hair around the roller, so the roller itself sits on the roots, and just pin that in.
Okay, so what we’re going to do, just for the top is actually work through the parting until you get the volume equal either side and we don’t actually get any roller marks;
so just for the top, take a section from one side of your parting, and then take another section even from the other side and just clip that away
and you can work towards that last. So what we’re going to do with this is just work back so it's even from both sides.
As the hair drops, wrap it round your roller and clip.
Now that your last one’s in, what we’re going to do is let the hair cool down for about ten minutes, just so it gets a bit cooler, and the hair actually sets around the roller itself.
Right; now that the hair’s cooled down, all we’re going to do is just to get rid of those little frizzy bits; just pop a bit of serum into your palm; not too much;
and start taking your rollers out. So just unclip it there. So as you take them out just twist it, and then just twist a little bit of serum in there,
and as you can see that you’ve got a little bit of volume and a tiny bit of a curl there. And just go through, be gentle, and just take that out there,
and just carry on
the other side.
So if you just separate it where the parting was before, and just have it all round and slightly back comb the top there.
And what that will do, is just to hold the volume on top. Just blast a little bit of hairspray.
And there we have our finished look. So what we’ve done is a long graduation, and then blow dried it and set it in rollers after,
just to see a bit more volume on top with a nice bounce at the bottom.
