Hey there! Welcome to the Dime Store Diner.
I'm Victoria Hanson a broadcasting major here at Western Illinois University.
I'm also University Televisions intern this summer. I'm going to be showing you there's more to cooking in college becides ramen noodles.
For those of us who are frugal, it's going to be fast and fun.
On today's menu, I have some potluck dishes.
First off let's start with some green bean casserole.
You will need two cups of green beans, some french fried onions, a can of mushroom soup, and 3/4 cups of milk.
This is a classic favorite everyone should know how to make, and it's pretty easy to bake.
Just start off, put your green beans, in a casserole dish
then go ahead with your cream of mushroom soup.
I use a spatula, it's a lot easier to get it out.
Put the milk in,
and just mix it all together. The french fried onions come after this has been in the oven.
Now that it's all mixed together, you're going to put it in the oven at 400 degrees for about 25 minutes, and don't forget about those french fried onions, that comes later.
And after those 25 minutes, your green bean casserole is ready.
The french fried onions will go on, put it back in the oven for an additional 5 minutes.
And here's our green bean casserole, comfort food and perfect for any potluck.

We're back and our next item on our potluck menu is cheesy potatoes.
For this you'll need a bag of shreeded hashbrowns, half a container of sour cream, a cup of melted butter, four cups of shredded cheese, and frosted flakes, yep! Frosted flakes.
These cheesy potatoes are so delish, they'll change the meaning of side dish!
First, you're going to dump all of the potatoes into a large mixing bowl.
All of the sour cream, and next for the cheese, you'll only put half in it first and the rest will come later.
Just kinda eye ball it, because it's all going to go in there eventually.
Mix it all together
And now that it's all mixed and in our pan, we'll take the rest of the cheese and put it on top.
And coming soon, we'll put all those frosted flakes on top, and that's where the butter will come in as well.
Make sure you get it all evened out, because this is the best part.
Take your melted butter and just drizzle it all over the frosted flakes.
Once you're all ready, this will go in the oven for about a half an hour and at 400 degrees.
And there's our cheesy potatoes! Trust me, these are better than dessert.
Be right back, with creamed chicken on a biscut.

And we're back! And I'm going to show you how simple this next dish is.
All you will need for these creamed chicken on biscuts
is the biscuts, cream of chicken soup, two cans, some butter and a little bit of milk.
Alright, well we have our cream of chicken, both cans in here, I filled one of the cans with milk, just go ahead and pour that right in
then add your butter and it doesn't have to be mixed perfectly because we're going to take this right over to the oven.
I put my burner on medium heat, just pour it in,
and this will cook for a couple minutes.
Make sure you mix the butter in.
And our cream chicken is ready!
Let's go put it on the biscuts!
You know what they say, it's creamy dreamy and quick, it's creamed chicken on biscut!
Thanks for watching, join us next time at the Dime Store Diner, I'm Victoria Hanson.
