In a residence hall the leading cause of fire alarms is cooking.
When I cook I make sure not to wear any loose clothing like a sweater,
or leave any combustible items near the stove.
When I'm cooking, you know, I never leave my cooking alone,
never walk alway, go into another room, always stay with whatever I'm making.
Unattended cooking can become a fire that could destroy books,
clothes, and a semester's worth of work.
If you have to leave your cooking, turn it off.
If there's a grease fire, to put water on it, it's going to expand and explode,
so never put water on a grease fire.
Instead I put a lid on it.
So think about it, your unattended cooking could lead to a fire,
and that fire could lead to someone getting hurt, or even killed.
Remember, fire safety -- it's a part of living.
It's part of living.
