As an Admission Officers I have the Southern Arkansas area and Texas
and I travel to all the area high schools and discuss with students all that Tech has to offer
and what we can give them as prospective students in hopes of getting them to come to Tech
but not only Tech I want these students to go to a college or university
and I want to help them choose the right fit for them. There's really not a big difference
recruiting in Arkansas and Texas, the only difference is of course some of he Texas fairs
are a little bigger that I attend, but my goal is really still the same deliver the information about
Tech to get the students to see if we are the correct fit for them or we are not and what we can offer
them as students. I still have much of the travel season to go, but one of the big things
i have coming up one of the area schools in Hot Springs asked me to present a presentation on
on Arkansas Tech to students from 7th graders up to 12th graders
Its a group of at least 230 students, so I really got to get on that and prepare
and see what I'm going to distribute to them about Tech and make it something that
the seniors can take something from it too as well as the 8th graders. To get them thinking about college
and what they need to do in preparation for it. Another upcoming event that we have
on campus in the Admissions office is Time Out for Tech. Of course February 7th
seniors only event we have hundreds of seniors from all across the state
come to the Tech campus to learn more about Tech and get interactive and see the campus and get them involved
and so we are really excited about that and can't wait to host Time out for Tech again this year.
Being a recruiter for the first time my goal was to go out and represent Tech to the best of my abilities
and to distribute all the information properly and to help these students learn and realize what all Tech
has to offer them, to help them realize that college is a serious thing and they need
to start thinking about it at an early age. And mainly to distribute all the proper information
about Tech that I can to get them to see what all we can offer them and what all
we have for them. As well as getting them to go to a university, a college.
I chose Tech because of the amazing faculty and staff. When I stepped foot on the Tech campus
everyone was caring and welcoming and open. I wasn't a number to them
I was a name. I was a face. Anything I needed, I needed done, I needed help with they were so open
to helping me to sitting down. Whatever I needed they walked me through step by step and they were so great.
Working in various departments on campus and with various people on campus
They inspired me to want to help students to reach their full potential and
the admissions officer position came open at Tech I knew it would be something I would love to do
I really want to help students meet their full potential and Arkansas Tech gave me a platform to do that with.
