Hey what's up everybody!?
Danny from Danny Mac's Kitchen here!
Welcome! Thanx for stopping by, as always
Today we're gonna be doing something really great
We're gonna be making a dessert
Really awesome nectarine, strawberry,
and blackberry cobbler
Yeah, all of it goes together really well
Uh this past weekend I drove out east
To visit some family and friends
and when I say out east
I mean eastern Long island (New York)
It's really great out there
It's rural, there's no traffic
there's no people
Uh, it's just farm land and vineyards
and just really beautiful wineries
I mean its just sensational
I love getting out there
It's just far so I don't get out there often
but when I do it's like heaven
On the way back
when you drive along the country roads
There's a lot of farm stands
Mom and pop farm stands
Just really showcasing all
the beautiful products
they've harvested throughout the year
I mean they work really, really hard
and I came across this one farm stand
I'm not even kidding there was like 20 cars
in front of this stand
So I was like woah! I gotta stop by
and see what they have
So...I did
and I was blown away, I was in heaven
Everything from A to Z, I'm telling you
and 4 grocery bags and like a 100 bucks later
Yeah, I'm like set for the month
but we're gonna be using some
of the ingredients that I picked up
at that stand today
and I'm really excited to show you guys
First up I want you guys to
preheat your ovens to 400 degrees
Ok so here we have all our locally grown
organic ingredients
I have 3 nectarines here
that I have peeled and cubed
I have some fresh lemon juice
Lemon juice of 1 lemon
I have raspberry liqour
I have a pound of strawberries
We have 6 ounces of blackberries
a little bit of salt
and 8 ounces of sugar
What I want you guys to do
is just take this and
assemble all in your bowl right here
Just get it all in there
Lemon juice will give it a little bit of tang
I got 8 ounces of sugar here
Just a pinch of salt
to offset it
Just go ahead and mix that all together
really, really well
Don't go crazy, you don't want
to break up the berries or anything
Get yourself a nice casserole dish
This holds 6 cups I believe
I'm not making a tremendous amount
you know you can always multiply
this recipe if you need to
if you're entertaining and
you have more guests over
but go ahead and place your mixture
right in the casserole dish
Just kind of even it out a little bit
and just set it aside
Ok, let's go ahead and get our
topping ingredients together
We're gonna do it in 2 seperate ways
cuz we're gonna do the dry ingredients
and we're gonna do wet ingredients
and we're gonna do them seperately
So let's go first to our wet ingredients
I have a half a cup of milk here
I have 2 ounces of vegetable shortening
I have 1 egg
and I have 2 ounces of butter crumbled
and this butter is cold
Next up for our dry ingredients
I have just a pinch of salt
I have a cup and a half of all purpose flour
2 tablespoons of baking powder
and 2 tablespoons of sugar
and what we're gonna do first
we're gonna take all of these ingredients
and go right into our bowl
and just go ahead and mix that all together
Next up, just go ahead and add your butter
Get outta there
ha stubborn
We're gonna add our shortening
This is vegetable shortening
and your just going to knead it
You wanna just kinda get the butter
and the shortening mixed together
Alright cool so we've gotten that
all broken up
The butter and the shortening
Now what I want you to do is
just go ahead and crack
that egg right into that milk
Give it a whiskin'
and go right ahead and add that
to your flour mixture
Alright we're just gonna go ahead
and mix that up until it becomes
crumbly
It's not going to be like a paste
or anything
just gonna be crumbly
because what we're going to do is
crumble it right on top
Yeah that looks about good
Ok guys just go ahead and
take your mixture it's really
light and airy
just kinda like place it on top
This is gonna bake this is gonna
turn into a really beautiful
golden brown color
It's gonna be all crumbly and
yummy and delicious
It's a lil messy with your fingers
but whatever
Get over it
Pretty much cover the whole top
if you can
Ok, now I have uh this casserole dish
sitting on a baking sheet for a reason
The reason being when you bake it
a lot of times the liquids
within your casserole dish can like
bubble over
and wind up on the bottom of your oven and
kinda like catch on fire and
you definitely don't want that! (chuckles)
You want it to look just like that
Go ahead and place that in your oven
for 30 minutes
Ok everybody it's been 30 minutes
My timer just went off
It smells absolutely heavenly in here
Let's take a look and see what we've got
Look at that!
Beautiful awesome browness!
It is bubbling like crazy
See what I mean with the sheet tray?
You want it underneath because
this will go all over your oven
and it can get smoky and messy and
you just want to avoid that, real easy way
So we're gonna have to let this sit
for a solid 20, 25 minutes
because you'll burn the hell outta your mouth
if you go eat it right now
So yeah just go ahead and
let that sit and let that aroma
fill your apartment or your house
or your kitchen
where ever you are
Alright let's go ahead and plate this up
Go ahead and pair this with
your favorite ice cream
I'm gonna use a lil vanilla
and I'm gonna garnish with a
little fresh mint
Perfect cobbler!
Enjoy guys!
cool! So I hope everybody enjoyed that
How simple was that? right?
I'm tellin ya it can't be any easier
If you want to make that for friends
and your entertaining just multiply
the recipe 2, 3, 4 times
and make a big tray
Whatever you want to do
You can make it ahead of time as well
Um hopefully you have access to
reall cool, locally grown home ingredients
Like I do
It's not so close but it's not so far
and if you don't try and get organic
products from the supermarket cuz
you're not gonna have the wax resins
on there
you're not gonna have the really
harmful pesticides
and uh it's just a better product
It's gonna cost a lil bit more
but in the end it's worth it
So til next time
Thnx for watching!
