Will Kylo Ren Have a New Lightsaber in Episode 8?

BUY a movie quality Kylo Ren lightsaber: ****** In this video we are going to discuss the new lightsaber Kylo Ren will possess in Star Wars: Episode 8, if he’s even going to have one. The novelisation of Star Wars: The Force Awakens suggests that Kylo Ren’s original crossguard lightsaber was destroyed on Starkiller base, and this is confirmed in the Star Wars Wikipedia. So the question is, what will Kylo Ren’s new lightsaber look like? Will it be rough and ragged like the original, or more refined, to reflect the progress in his training? Will he construct the lightsaber himself, or will he receive help from Snoke? And where will he find a new Kyber crystal? We know that the first order use kyber crystals in their weapons, which basically means they are laced with the dark side of the force. It appears that Kylo Ren could have used an undamaged crystal for his lightsaber, but chose to go with a cracked one on purpose. First, let’s look at some of the concept art that was created for The Force Awakens, which could very well be recycled for Episode 8. Here we see the original lightsaber design for Kylo Ren, which does include the crossguard segments. It appears they did keep the red wire running along the outside of the hilt, for the final design however. Next is the wampa claw lightsaber concept, which fans initially speculated belonged to Captain Phasma. This design is very similar to this piece of concept art in which Kylo Ren wears a face plate. Notice his lightsaber here is also claw shaped. The blade also appears to be stable, unlike the crackling spitty fire blade from Episode 7. And here we can see a green version of the crossguard lightsaber, which could reflect Kylo Ren’s journey towards the light side, if that’s a story arc that the writers wish to follow. Will Luke Skywalker bring back Ben Solo from the dark side of the force? At this stage we can only speculate. It makes sense that Kylo Ren would want to keep the crossguard design, as it is the fighting style he’s become accustomed to. And in this more bizarre piece of concept art, we can see what they call ‘primitive lightsabres’ which barely possess a hilt to hold on. Will Kylo Ren choose an even more primitive design, as he is forced to put something together quickly. Or maybe we we’ll see something expertly crafted, like the curved lightsaber that belonged to Count Dooku...

Maybe Kylo Ren will not construct anything at all, and instead will choose to track down the lightsaber that belonged to his grandfather Anakin Skywalker. The 2015 novel Aftermath mentions some interesting details… During the Battle of Endor, the Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Vader was killed after sacrificing his life to kill his Sith Master, Darth Sidious, the Emperor of the Galactic Empire. Several months later, the group known as the Acolytes of the Beyond were in contact with a junk dealer on the planet Taris named “Ooblamon”, who claimed to possess the red-bladed lightsaber that had belonged to the Dark Lord. Three Acolytes of the Beyond purchased the lightsaber from Ooblamon, intending to destroy it and return it to Vader in death. Ooblamon was unsure if it was Vader's lightsaber, but the transaction was carried out nonetheless. So what do you think? Is it possible Vader’s lightsaber somehow survived? Will Kylo Ren build another lightsaber or track down his grandfathers? Please let us know in the comments below and don’t forget to like the video. Thanks for watching.
