Hello and welcome to My Weekly Geekery, the show in which I talk about what's been going on
in my geeky world over the past seven days.
Top story today is that the 71st Golden Globes were held in Hollywood this week,
with best picture wins for American Hustle and 12 Years a Slave,
best television series wins for Breaking Bad and Brooklyn Nine-Nine,
and acting awards for Leonardo DiCaprio, Amy Adams, Cate Blanchett, Matthew McConaughey,
Robin Wright, Bryan Cranston, Amy Poehler and Andy Samberg,
among others. There were a lot of awards, I will put a link to the full list below.
The first trailer has been released for Game of Thrones season four, featuring many of
our favorite characters,
well my favorite characters anyway. The show returns to HBO in the US on Sunday
6th April, and to Sky Atlantic in the UK the day after.
It has been announced that a stage musical based on the film
Groundhog Day is being produced, it will be adopted by Danny Rubin, writer of the film,
and Tim Minchin, who has had great success with his music and lyrics for Matilda:
the Musical. I'm excited. It would seem that UK-based Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. fans will have
to wait until probably
March before they can see new episodes of the show. It was fun watching close to the US
premiere,
but there were an awful lot of gaps due to those hiatuses the US TV schedules have,
how do you guys cope?
Sherlock series 3 ended on Sunday and it seems at the moment like it's not going
to be too long to wait until series 4,
well not as long as last time anyway, although this is Sherlock we're talking about.
And finally, The Musketeers begins in the UK on Sunday at 9 p.m. on BBC1, it looks
really good,
and I shall put a link to the trailer below. So in conclusion, we're on hiatus again.
This has been My Weekly Geekery.
