this is couch to 5k week seven
second day
my plan is to...
my plan is to, this morning
go my original route
I would like to do some hill-work
I like walking when I can see
a lot better than walking when I can't
this is good for stretching out your hamstrings
I really need new shoes
I need shoes that don't have a heel
that don't try to make my foot land straight
because it feels awkward
maybe I could run in Chuck Taylors
finished the second day
and I took my original route
I was going up the steep section
I took it easy
because I'm trying to pay attention to what my
feet are telling me and what my body is telling me
really trying to pay attention to how my feet are landing
well I ran
three point zero three miles total
in the same time as I ran monday. it still felt good, like
it felt difficult
like... just like it was hard
not like it was impossible. I feel like that's an accomplishment
I just ran for 25 minutes over a point that was kicking my butt the first time
so, I had a bit of dialog after the end of the last bit
I was talking very quietly
I'm going to recap what I was saying there
last night i finished the book Born to Run that's uh.. it was a best seller
two thousand nine. basically it's a book about how humans
are designed
for endurance running that's really fascinating actually i didn't know what
about the stuff really good story really entertaining and
and uh... sort of educational
and made me a true believer in the minimalist/barefoot running sort of thing
or at least minimalist running
I was sort of headed that way anyway
but also made me realize some ways that i had been
sabotaging myself
in the runs
what i mean by that is when i started off running doing this program
my whole goal -my stated goal- was just
to slow myself down cause i knew that I kept trying to blast off and go as fast as I can but
that's wrong and I knew that that's wrong
and then i realized after reading this book that i was doing it again
I'd slowly got caught up in the
competitive thing where "I need to be faster need to be faster"
i don't need to be faster actually that's not what i want to do what i want to do is
want to finish a 5k, that's my goal that's not to be fast 'cause i don't
i don't really care about winning
you know, like that' sjust not my nature. I just want to do it because I like doing
it
the weird thing is at the end of this run i was just happy! I just had this smile and I was
like
was really happy with what i was doing and i'm looking out the morning and i
was sort of easily running in uh... I felt kind of tired but you know
yeah, this is kind of.. I"m using my body kind of tired
that was pretty neat but the recap I really liked today's run i really like
running
and that's surprising to me
but i'm really happy about it
I guess that's it!
haven't done one of these in a long time but I'm drinking
alaskan winter ale
brewed with spruce tips
the spruce tips give it... I don't know
almost like a grape flavor, it's really good
on if you can get it uh... i recommend this again as always
I guess I wouldn't recommend
or show a beer I didn't recommend so, try it
you'll like it
and uh...
that's it for me
