You are naturally a beautiful woman...
So don’t get wrapped up in the image they sell
thinking the makeup
will make up
for your lack of self-confidence,
But get wrapped up in the foundations of love
realizing that beauty is in the eye of the beholder,
Your definition is not written by the marketing team
nor could that cream actually transfer you over,
Those shoes don’t fit you
your issue
is value cuz obviously you’re not what they showed you,
But the minute you start chasing that
“I wanna look like her” fashion
the more lost you become cuz
you can never actually be her,
And as far as her being more important then you,
well,
it’s only true if you believe her,
What’s beauty to a blind man?
What’s important to a dying man?
You’re so concerned with how you’re perceived
that the you who breathes is not even exciting,
Just the image of L’Oreal’s persistence,
You see flaws so you mask you face hoping to
cover up scares from past mistakes,
Without them, you don’t like yourself,
Solely dependent of that mascara
it’s scary,
You feel without it you wouldn’t survive,
This enhancement you seek is horrifying
I thought I saw you’re face melt when you cried,
As a child you played games,
In junior high you played sports,
Now that you grown,
you won’t even get your hair wet,
Last night I wanted to take you to the beach
for a little retreat
a little alone time somewhere average,
To have some fun,
the night was young,
but your hair was done
so we just stared at it,
You even wore socks to the beach
claiming the sand would be too rough,
Wouldn’t sit in it
concerned about what had been in it
it was ridiculous
how you became more restricted when you grew up,
Personally I’m all for your improvement,
but what you’re doing is losing yourself in the movement,
You don’t need a makeover
you need a default button,
cuz you are naturally a beautiful woman.
Thank you
