Hello Friends, Today we will learn how to bulk reduce the
size of photos in a folder. i.e. Suppose you have taken hundreds of photos using your digital
camera or the digital SLR and you wish to email the photos to some of your friends or
may be upload it to Dropbox or Google Drive. Now if you use the original size, then it
would take lot of hours and even days sometimes to upload these many photos. So the solution
to this problem is to reduce the width and height of the photo which reduces the size
and also you can optimize the image for better viewing on the web.
So lets see how you can do it through Photoshop. So I have the Photoshop Window open here.
If you can see it? Yes, its here. So lets go to the file menu and from the file menu
you have to select Scripts >Image Processor. And here, in this window select the folder
>21st March - This is the folder in which I Have around say a dozen photos.I am not
sure, it might be around 10-12 photos. So let me select this folder. Now this is location
where I want to save the processed images. i.e the reduced images. So I will select it
as "Save in Same Location". Now whenever I do this it will create a separate folder inside
this 21st March folder. It will be named as JPEG automatically so you don't have to do
anything. Now the file type I wish to save. I will select "Save as JPEG". Now quality.
The Quality you can give any number decent. For example anywhere around 7-9. 10 is a high
quality. I would recommend 7 or 8. Now the resize to fit. This is the width and height
of the photo. This is the screen resolution of may computer, so I have given it 1440 width
and 960 height. If you want to reduce it further you can even give for example 800 width and
600 height. This will make the photo even smaller in size and it would be very easy to send
by email or even upload it to Dropbox or Google Drive. Now after doing this you just have
to click run and it will start processing the images. We will see this screen blink
and go. It will take few seconds. Actually if your system speed is better, if your system
RAM is better then it would be very fast on your system. My system is having a 4 GB RAM.
I hope it gets completed in couple of seconds more.
