THE WEATHER. Hello! Now I'm going to tell you about the weather forecast in Britain.
"We're going on an outing to Sherwood Forest tomorrow," said Liam, "so let's listen to
the weather forecast to see what the weather's going to be like."
"Here is the forecast for Scotland and Northern Ireland. Tonight will be very cold with some
rain and snow. Tomorrow there will be heavy rain all day, with snow in the mountains.
The winds will also be strong and it will be cloudy. The temperatures will be around
freezing or a little above. The night will again be very cold, with temperatures
below freezing and the weather will remain cold and wet for the next few days."
"Well, I'm glad we're not in Scotland," said Nick. "It's going to be rainy and snowy and
windy and cold. How terrible! Now they're going to give the
forecast for our region. Let's hope we'll be lucky!"
"Here is the forecast for the Midlands. It will be a dry but cold night with temperatures
around five or six degrees above freezing. The morning will be cloudy with cool breezes
which will develop into strong winds during the day.
There will be some sunshine during the afternoon but probably also showers which will get heavier
towards evening. Temperatures should be around the seasonal
average, twelve to thirteen degrees Celsius. During the night there will probably be heavy
rain which should clear by the morning to give warmer, brighter weather over the next
few days." "Oh dear!" said Liam. "It's going to be windy
and cold but it will be sunny in the afternoon and perhaps it won't rain before the evening.
We'll have to put on warm clothes and take our waterproof jackets with us.
They say the weather's going to be better the day after tomorrow, but you can never
trust the weather forecast!" Bye! That's all for now!
