Three years ago, we started the College Cup. It's part of our advisory college system which
is a program that's about three years old. The whole purpose of the College Cup is really
to bring the colleges together, bring the students together to create a little bit of
camaraderie between them, build some teamwork skills, and just allow them to get out of
school, have a day of fun where they don't have to worry about their heads being in books,
just to, ya know, get out and focus on their overall health and wellness. The advisory
college program is consisted of all four years. There are six total colleges. In each college
there are about a hundred students or so. Today, we probably have mostly first-years
and second-years represented. A lot of the third- and fourth-years are in their clinical
rotations or doing interviews for their residencies. So, we're pretty pleased with the numbers.
It's one of those things that medical students really enjoy because they're always in the
books and it just gives them an outlet to come and focus on just having fun for a little
while. As a second-year student, this really means a lot. We did this last year and it
was really fun and doing this again, getting to see the new first-years and getting to
meet them. It's been really fun, just as a whole med school to do this. As a class, I
think it makes us have a little bit more fun than just the normal med students so we're
not all inside studying. We get to know each other a lot better in kind of a really fun
environment. Students should take part in this kind of events because it really gives
us a break from studying and let's us have fun with our classmates and gives a good camaraderie
to our class and brings everybody together as one school at UofL.
