Hello, I am Dennis. And I am Gerto.
Welcome to The Dutch Nerd Club.
We are here with someone. We are here with Niels.
Niels has a huge Back To The Future collection.
Niels.... Why?
Why? I saw the movie in 1985 and from that moment on I was a fan.
Years later I saw the sequels. And than you are hooked.
I started collecting about 10 years ago.
Star Wars has a big collectors/fan base. But BTTF is not so easy to come by?
It's not really hard to get, there is a big fanbase. Not as big as Star Wars of course.
But if you see how many people there are around the world.
And what you can get from BTTF. There is quite a lot available.
Especially the last couple of years, because of nostalgia and the year 2015.
There were a lot of new items released. And then there were a lot of new BTTF fans.
Can you notice that all the fans are finding each other in groups for instance?
Absolutely... since 2015 there are more people who are enjoying BTTF and also the youth!
Even the people who didn't watched the movies at the big screen.
It's a movie that is even now in 2016 still a good movie!
It plays with time!
Despite the movie has been getting older with time. I myself am a very big fan of the movie.
The movie is still fun to watch. You can see it over and over again.
It's a very small movie; a love story. That always works; it's timeless.
I think that not only the story but also the props make this such a good movie.
If you say Back To The Future you not only think of the actors...
Where do you think of? The Delorean!
Yes... The Delorean, me too! and hoverboards.
That are iconic things that everybody knows and remembers.
I can surely understand that you are collecting all these things!
I am very curious what your most precious items are in your huge collection?
One of the last things is the 1/6 scale Hot Toys Delorean... It's huge!
And I can see it over there. Yes.. it's right behind us!
Let's take a look at it....
When we entered here we can't miss this big superb model you have here!
I am very impressed by it.
And I can understand that this is one of your most prized possessions in your collection.
Can you tell us something about it?
Yes of course... It's almost 75 cm long. It's huge, and looks exactly as in the movie.
Very detailed, it even has the little clock on the dash.
The clock is from BTTF 3 right?
No, it's from part 1.
Really?
Doc put it there so Marty knows when to hit the gas to be there exactly when the lightning strikes.
There is a "fluxing" flux capacitor; lights blinking.
The hyperdrive or how do you call it behind the driver's seat, also lights up.
Lights everywhere.
Yes, they did a good job on it. And of course a matching Marty.
You already had this Marty figure? Yes... now this makes a nice combo.
It also has the lightning hook I see. Yes it's from the ending of part 1.
Hot Toys didn't included the hook. So I made it myself.
Very simple actually, a metalic small rod, Duct tape, tie rip and a spring from a pen.
Just as Doc sometimes builds his stuff.
I see a nice tile. That was not included with the car?
No, I had it especially made for me. Also for the Marty figure a special tile.
That gives it an even better museum quality look. It's indeed one of the nicest items of your collection.
These were there first, Marty and the Delorean. Soon there will be a 2015 Marty.
So with the rainbow cap and the Nikes? Exactly...
Also a Doc Brown from 2015. With a very strange expression on his face!
And there will be a new Delorean.
It is supposed to come out. But it's not sure yet.
The 2 figures of Marty and Doc are now available for pre-order.
What's the difference with the new Delorean?
The 2015 version has the Mr. Fusion on the back. And the wheels can move so it looks like it's flying.
Ok... and are you gonna buy this new one also?
It depends, I don't have a lot of room anymore. It would be cool... but who knows...
It takes up to 1.5 years before it's eventually for sale. So I have some time.. but definitely awesome.
Can I ask you what you paid for it? 650 euro's.
Ok, that's not too bad.
A Hot Toys figure is 200-300 euro's. So this is definitely worth the 600 euro's.
It's a lot of money, but it's a nice big model.
Absolutely...
On to the next prop!
Prop 2.
We are standing here with the Nikes from part 2. Niels, what can you tell me about them?
I have these shoes now for about 1 week.
These are exact replica's of the 2011 versions. They were made for the auction for the MJF Foundation.
The benefits were donated to the Michael J. Fox Foundation against Parkinsons.
One pair costed around $ 10.000
So these are not the ones from 2011?
No.. These are replicas, a lot of people call it fakes. I call them replicas because they look so good!
It's 95 to 99 % the same as the ones from 2011.
Who makes these shoes? They were released? It's not custom, there are more of these?
There not available in the normal shops. You can order them online, I believe Hong Kong.
I ordered them online in my own shoe size and in about 10 days they arrived here.
There were other versions of this shoe?
Yes absolute, I also have the second version. This is the V3, I also have the V2.
Are they from the same manufacterer? Yes, I believe so.
They are speciallized in making BTTF Nikes? As far as I know it's just a regular shoefactory.
Will you ever own a pair of originals? Or is that too expensive?
They are a bit too expensive for me... Or I have to win the lotery.
It's a bit typical, the BTTF fans remained on the background. But still there were a lot of shoes sold.
So there were a lot of fans with cash.
You mean in 2011?
I don't know if they are fans...
A lot of people saw it as an investment. And it was for a charity of course.
So the prices were skyhigh!
It was a real shame for the fans.
But now you can buy these replicas that look so nice. And that is for us fans absolutely great!
How do they fit?
I tried one on... they fit great, just like a normal sneaker.
Will you be wearing them outside? No... Definitely not!
I heard that they are making a new version? Yes that is correct.
The strap and laces will be "tied" automatically when your heal touches the sole of the shoe.
So they look even more like the ones from the movie!
I think it's time to go to the next prop!
Prop 3.
This is the prop that I love the most since I know this movie.
When I was little I wanted a remote controlled car.
Then I saw a remote controlled car in the movie. But it was a real size one!
This is almost the exact same remote as in the movie?
It looks exactly the same, only the PCM logo is another color. The logo has to be green, but it is red.
Ok, but I think it is close enough!
This one is fanmade. I bought it on ebay.
I really like it, it's one of my favorites. The antenna can be pulled out.
The display works. And it has a cool soundeffect build in!
Lets hear it!
I think it is hard to find? It was made for you?
I found it on ebay, and made the seller an offer. And he accepted it.
And in 2 weeks it arrived here!
I have heard that you can't import these things?
I talked to a guy who tried to import one, but it couldn't pass customs because it was illegal.
Yes it works on a different frequency. I believe a stronger frequency than allowed here.
So it's very rare to have one here!
The company who makes the remotes, do they still excist?
Yes, Futaba still excists.. they still make remotes. This one is for a plane, the green one for a helicopter.
Why don't they do anything with this special model?
They don't care!
Futaba focussus on radio controlled planes cars and helicopters, and not Back to the future fans.
If they want to make money they should do something with it! An anniversary edition for example?!
Yes why not... That's cool!
Then they could make a version with the right looks, so it will be screen acurate.
And also a remote controlled Delorean.
That would be cool... missed chance Futaba!
This was back in the day a remote that would cost a couple of hundreds of dollars/euro's.
It is a semi pro remote controller.
So it's not a toy like the Mattel hoverboard that can be put on the market for a reasonable price.
I find this an amazing and fantastic item!
Were going to take a look at some other things. We can make a video of 2 hours, there is so much here!
It's an amazing collection, unbelievable... So much passion, we can surely appreciate it!
People who are so into a movie or franchise.
Really fantastic, really super.
But you will keep collecting? Do you have a holy grail?
I don't stop collecting. It keeps getting harder to find nice items.
There are not many more new things being released.
But there is one thing I still really want. And that is meeting Michael J. Fox!
You haven't met him?
No, not Michael J. Fox, but I met some other actors. That would really be awesome!
He shows up sometimes at conventions, there was a time he didn't but since a couple of years he's back.
It seems that he will only be there when Christopher Lloyd is there also.
I saw him a while back at Jimmy Kimmel. Chris was really old and Michael is very ill.
There still Doc and Marty!
There is a chemistry between these two.
And the most important thing there is for a BTTF collector in my oppinion...
It's of course The Delorean!!
Would you like to own one?
It would be really cool.... but I don't have the space for it!
He doesn't fit in here!!
No indeed... it doesn't fit!
You have to put it in a garage. And don't just park it in the street.
Something else... Do you fit in a Delorean? I will fit, but it's very tight inside.
I keep collecting in my museum here...
There will definitely be cool things to add here and then I will forget about the lifesize Delorean.
Is your museum open for the public? Have you thought about it?
People are always welcome, no problem! You are here also, thats cool!
It's always nice to talk to people about my hobby.
You are all welcome! Everybody to Niels.
And pay the Dutch Nerd Club.
Very cool.... everybody come and visit!
More collectors should be doing this. Show what you have.. be proud!
