Hey, sports fan! Haroon Rashid, Khemeia Consulting. And in this video I'm going to show you how
you can get more website traffic. A few years ago I did a digital marketing talk at Leeds
University. And I asked the audience, "What are some of your favourite websites? (And
keep it clean!") And they gave me the usual responses like BBC News, Sky Sports News,
IMDb, someone said Perez Hilton! So I wrote them all down and I said, "How many times
a week do you guys go on these sites?" And they're like, "Yeah, pretty much every day."
And I said, "OK. How many times a day do you go on these sites?" One guy said, "Between
ten and fifteen times a day." And I was like, "...What?" But then the strangest thing happened.
And it became like a kind of confessional because other people started raising their
hands and going, "Er...that kind of sounds about right for me as well." So I asked them,
"Why are you guys spending so much time online?" And they said, "Because it's interesting."
And I'm like, "Yeah, genius. I know it's interesting, but what makes it interesting?" And one guy
said, "Because they've got great content." "Exactly!" I said. They've got content which
is fresh, relevant and updated on a continual basis. Would you look at your favourite website
today, go away and come back tomorrow just to look at the same thing? Of course you wouldn't!
That's insane! But this is what we are doing to our customers every single day. And we
wonder why we don't get enough traffic; and why people aren't staying on the site and
why we're not generating any leads or sales! Your customers are after content that solves
a problem or a need that they have. Start solving their problems with good compelling
content. Once you do that, people will start visiting your site more. Not only that - you'll
get loyal visitors who will turn into warm leads and then eventually will buy from you.
