In 1957, Mille Miglia saw its last edition
with the success of Pietro Taruffo on Ferrari and
the tragic accident of De Portage killed nine spectators.
In 1961 also Ferrari adopted for its Formula 1 cars
back engines and the results were stunning.
Phil Hill on his 156 Ferrari won the world championship
and Giancarlo Baghetti the Grand Prix of France.
But 1961 will be also remembered
for the tragic accident Wolfgang Von Trips.
In 1963 the World Champion Formula 1 was Jim Clark.
He won thanks to his Lotus,
designed by Colin Chapman using the flat position seat
later adopted by other racing cars manufacturers.
