Alright, so what about batteries? That seems like an area of confusion for people. Where
to recycle it? How to recycle it? And why? Yeah you're right there are a lot of different
types of batteries and some are rechargeable, some are not rechargeable. A good example
is alkaline batteries. These are called single use batteries and they come in different types
of sizes. You've got double A, triple A, this is a C size and they can be used in everything
from cameras to toys, different appliances and things like that around your house. It's
important to note with most alkaline batteries that they have a single use. You basically
use them and then you get rid of them, unfortunately. There are some programs for recycling of alkaline
batteries around and so that's when you'd want to go to Earth911.org put in your zipcode
or your city and your state and put in alkaline batteries to see if there is a recycling program
near you where you can take them to be recycled. A lot of times though, unfortunately, they
get thrown in a landfill which is not a good choice. We'd much rather see them recycled.
An alternative to alkaline batteries is the rechargeable batteries which are great because
they can end up saving you a lot of money, they are more convenient, and they last a
lot longer. This is a good example of a set which is for a double A so I could use them
actually in this camera and I've got a charger that basically goes into the wall so I can
keep it there and just recharge them as needed. I have heard they will last up to five times
longer and some of these can last for years. So if you're continuously using your batteries
on an ongoing basis like for kids toys, flashlights, things like that. That can save you a lot
of money. And it's really convenient because all you do is plug them in recharge them and
they're ready. It's definitely a good choice for the household and basically the office.
