SPAR ICS on the switch to the Fabasoft Folio document management system
Mr. Kranabitl, thank you very much for agreeing to this interview with us here at the SAP Trade Forum in Frankfurt.
We wanted to take the opportunity to ask you a few questions about your collaboration with Fabasoft.
Why did you opt for Fabasoft?
In 2008 we carried out an analysis project where we looked at the Microsoft and Fabasoft solutions in the final selection process.
And in this project where specialist departments and experts from all different countries were involved, Fabasoft was the clear winner.
It was a very objective, professional decision but very clear.
We have longstanding experience with Fabasoft - we had already been using the previous Fabasoft product - so we've known the company since 1995.
We also know the two members of the managing board and we've had good experiences during this period.
And it's a positive surprise that 20 years further down the line another similar decision has been made in this direction.
How does our software integrate into your systems?
Very well. I was surprised by the system's high stability.
Our systems are very complex. We have umpteen servers in use. And the product works really well.
The strong central approach that we have also works excellently with the product.
So that means, as you've just seen, that the product also works in Romania and Italy with very good performance
Even though all the data is only made available centrally.
We've never had a single problem concerning product stability.
Or concerning performance.
So we're highly satisfied. And it's incredibly easy, or relatively easy to integrate the product into existing architectures.
So, as you've also heard, integration in portals, collaboration with SAP, also with Microsoft - it all works superbly - so you can really only give a positive reference.
Does mobility also play an important role?
So as we said in the presentation, it was a killer application, where we showed that we wanted to make company information available as normal on mobile devices.
And this was, on the one hand the breakthrough for the iPad in our management, and also for Folio.
Because the product capacity together with these mobile end devices became properly recognized.
And it really was a sensation that came about by chance.
Were there security concerns?
There are always security concerns. We're aware that it's a situation we simply have to deal with.
When it's just about company e-mails on an iPad or iPhone we can discuss how relevant and problematic it is, but with the integration of Folio you have access to other, much more confidential data
And here you have to do something by means of security.
And find solutions that are on the one hand secure, but that also allow the user to work.
At the moment we don't quite have the right solution.
But for us the risk is manageable because the number of users is restricted to those who can deal well with such data.
Herr Kranabitl, thank you for the interview.
Pleasure!
