This is Duke University.
I run the Media Fellows program, which is a program at Duke University that brings journalists
from all around the world together for a month to compare notes and collaborate and look
at U.S. media policies and practices.
Well, personally, to be as a media fellow at the Duke University while the primaries
are going on, it's very interesting to see the media coverage inside the U.S.
In the Netherlands we follow the U.S. elections with great interest. No day goes by that it's
like making headlines, especially at the moment.
U.S.A. is a big country and election is a big thing so in China people always talk about
the election.
Not covering the nitty-gritty details every day, but more features that will make people
understand better what's going on here.
Trump really knows how to play the media in a way that the other candidates don't.
Donald Trump is quite a bit in the media in Germany.
The question that people are really curious to know from a news-gathering perspective
is how do you cover the quote "ugly" candidate? How do you cover the person who's saying things
that are really, really offensive to a lot of people? And how do you do that without
turning it into a circus?
