Galleria Carpet Cleaning
The Galleria is an upscale mixed-use urban development located in Houston, Harris County,
Texas.
In the 1940s, oilman Glenn H McCarthy envisioned an indoor shopping center with a hotel. That
idea was ditched when the Hilton Hotel franchise took over the Shamrock in 1955. It was not
until the 1960s when Gerald Hines put McCarthy's idea into action. Hines developed and opened
the mall on November 16, 1970. The new center had Neiman Marcus as the anchor store modeled
after the Galleria Vittorio Emanuel II in Milan. When the center opened, it had 600,000
square feet of retail space on two levels. As the Galleria grew office, space was included
and a second hotel was added. In 1986, Galleria III was the addition of an additional wing
anchored by Macy's.
In 1999, Hines Interests sold the mall to a partnership of Urban Shopping Centers, Inc.
and institutional funds advised by Walton Street Capital, LLC. The Walton Street affiliated
funds purchased the office and hotel buildings separately at the same time. In 2000, Urban
sold out to Netherlands-headquartered real estate investment group Rodamco North America,
N.V.
March 2003, saw an additional 800,000 square feet of retail space open anchored by Nordstrom
and Foley's.
If you are looking for a shopping experience like no other then make plans to visit the
Houston Galleria, let us just say you will not be disappointed.
