Do you know how to stop my puppy from chewing the carpet?
Have you tried the water spritzer of wisdom?
What is that?
A spray water bottle, sprayed every time he tries to chew on the carpet. He should eventually
wise up.
I don’t want to do that.
You don’t want to have to replace the carpet because your puppy chewed holes in it, either.
You could try having a lot more chew toys around.
I already have several.
Try giving the dog a new one every so often. The novelty keeps him focused on it instead
of chewing on it instead of the carpet.
I can replace the old chew toys with new ones, but he keeps going back to the carpet.
If you don’t have much carpet, you could block off those rooms until he’s too old.
It’s like childproofing a house.
I heard it was called puppy-proofing. But not many people bother with it.
Because a puppy only gets into antics for a few weeks or months, while a kid takes years
to get past putting bugs and legos in their mouths.
I heard that the carpet chewing could be like pica in people.
A puppy with stomach parasites might start eating inappropriate things, like carpet or
dirt. If there’s any chance, of that, he needs to see the vet.
Someone told me it might be a sign of a bad diet.
Then eating carpet is counterproductive. But you could switch to better foods.
He’s already got the expensive dog food and plenty of treats.
I hope you aren’t giving him dog treats from China. They’ve had a history of putting
toxic melamine in pet food to get the protein content up.
Why would they do that?
Put the cheap fillers in plus melamine and it looks like it has a higher volume of expensive
protein in it. In short, their shortcuts with pet foods have killed lots of pets.
That a good reason to buy American I’ve never heard of before.
