It really is the Wild West here in the state of Nevada
when it comes to the right to carry firearms.
We are an open carry state, which
means that anyone who has the lawful right
to possess a firearm can openly carry a firearm on their person
as long as it's not concealed.
There are limitations about certain places
that you can't bring a firearm like, for example,
a courthouse.
But otherwise, you can carry an open firearm on your person.
We are also a shall issue state when
it comes to carrying a concealed weapon, which
means that if you take a course and you demonstrate
your proficiency with firearms, then
the state must issue you a permit
to carry a concealed weapon.
Starting in 2011, you need a separate permit
to carry a semi-automatic firearm.
But if you take the course, and you demonstrate
your proficiency, the state must issue you that permit.
