Hong Kong player shot during Women's Baseball World Cup in Venezuela.
28-year-old Cheuk Woon Yee Sinny of Hong Kong's women's baseball team
was playing at a championship tournament in Caracas, Venezuela
when she was shot accidentally in a game against the Netherlands.
She noticed the pain during warming ups for the 4th inning.
She thought she'd been hit by a ball and took no alarm.
She became overwhelmed by the pain.
Her teammed rushed over and saw a hole on her left calf.
She had been bleeding. She was rushed to the emergency room.
A bullet from a 9mm weapon was found.
The bullet did not penetrate deep.
It was reported that there was a shoot-out in a neighborhood nearby,
hurting Cheuk accidentally as a result.
The stadium was shut down for investigation. Vice-president Elias Jaua apologized for the incident.
But the Hong Kong players have been shaken.
Team Manager Yip Wai Kwong decided to withdraw the team from the tournament.
