There are several basic drawing shapes that go into your core cat, core cat cartoon here.
And I'm going to start with the eyes. Basically think of the eyes as two half circles. Then
draw two lines down through each. Now we're going to draw a little triangle, bowing out
at the edges in between them. From these, draw another two half circles except no connecting
line above them going outwards. Now we have the core of our cat. I quickly draw in the
nose and the eyes. You can already see the feline face. Now we're going to draw some
whiskers on our cat, which means a bunch of closely spaced triangles in around the mouth.
Draw a chin underneath there. Now right above the eyes, we're going to draw two little wider
triangles up here, with the middle line in there. It's going to be the inside of the
ears. A little more fur in between, and then do the exact same shape. Now as we go along
the outside of the face, we're just going kind of connect things up. Doing a couple
squiggles, we'll finish our cat's face. Then right about where the whisker line is here,
we're going to draw their legs tapping out. Notice how this kind of largely squiggles.
For claws, just three brief little lines. Bring the chest down. Now we're going to do
another leg. Things are starting to take shape. Right about the eye level, since our cat's
kind of at a forty five degree angle, bring the mid-body back, and now we're going to
extend the tail. Bringing the hindquarters forward to meet the midsection. Again, you're
kind of following, it's almost like a tube shape here. For the back legs, it's going
to be this bow the cats have, the extra bone. And usually people will forget, but also draw
in that extra little leg underneath here, if you can see it. You can see how the cat
would look funny if it was just on three legs. Put in the claws. A little bit of eyebrows
there, for extra expression. And you have your basic cat cartoon shape down on your
paper.
