Welcome back to Keep Calm and Bake. My name is Caroline Mili Artiss and today I am going
to teach you how to make some amazing churros. [music]
Churros is actually very easy to make. There is just a few ingredients and we are going
to start by making the dough. So I have 250 grams of plain flour and I am going to use
this electric whisk on this machine but if you had a handheld electric whisk, that would
be fine, or even just doing it by hand is also good. Butter is going into a sauce pan
to melt. Once melted you can add 200 ML of water and basically we are going to just bring
this to the boil. Now once the water and butter have boiled we are going to add this to the
flour with a big pinch of salt and basically whisk it until it becomes a smooth paste.
That is all going in, there we go. Great, so if you feel the mixture is a bit too dry
you can always add a few more tablespoons of water. I am going to leave this covered
with some cling film in the fridge to chill for about 30 minutes. Remember folks, the
full recipe is written in the description box for you. Now while the dough is chilling,
we are not going to chill, we are going to crack on and make the chocolate sauce, it
is very easy, not too strenuous. So I have double cream, dark chocolate, dark cream,
going into a heavy based sauce pan. We are going to heat this very, very gently. I am
going to add, to the cream, a vanilla pod. Slice down one side of the vanilla pod and
then you open it up and inside is where all the goodies are. And now you can use the back
of your knife and just basically, kind of, keep it open, and look at that. That is the
vanilla seeds. Scrape that into your cream and you can just plug the whole bit in there
as well. While it is gently heating we are going to put the dark chocolate in as well
and we are going to stir this until the chocolate has melted. What is going to happen is it
is going to become really lovely and thick and that is going to be your ultra-rich and
incredible chocolate sauce for the churros. Once everything has melted together, pour
it into a bowl. Goodness gracious me. My dough is ready, so add the dough into the piping
back. I have got a pan with oil in it heating up. Push dough so that it comes to the end
of the nozzle. You are now going to pipe this into the oil. So there we go, that is nice
and hot. I am just going to do some nice long strips. You want to try to make them straight,
as well. Once they are golden and crisped up now we can take them out, drain them onto
your paper towel. So I have got about two to three tablespoons of some castor sugar
and I am going to pop in one teaspoon of cinnamon, mix that together. Now if you like what you
are seeing and you are a big fan of baking do not forget to hit 'subscribe.' And if you
are a fan of cooking in general head over to my channel at Caroline Artiss and I have
tons of recipes for you over there. Now cinnamon sugar is ready. Sprinkle this onto a plate.
Mm, love the smell of cinnamon. While they are still hot, but be careful because they
are hot. I am just going to coat them in the sugar, give them a sprinkle, and this helps
the kind of sugar actually stick on a little bit better. There we go. There we go. So I
hope you all really enjoy making yourself some churros and if you do, take a photo and
hashtag keep calm and bake. Now I am going to have to get stuck in to one of these, have
a bit of a dunk in my chocolate sauce. It is light, crispy, cinnamon-y, and such a nice
chocolate sauce. I am going to finish these off so, cheerios.
