Oh...it's amazing! I mean they just
blossom. When I get them they (students) are a little bit sad about themselves.
Their self-esteem has been shot because the other first-graders
and second graders are reading and they are not, so
we have to do a lot of boosting up their self-confidence and letting them know
how smart they are.
They do appreciate that!
Oh, definitely they are being empowered
because they really want to read what their peers are reading.
Sometimes that's a struggle for my students.
When they get this chance, I feel like we're able to level the playing field.
Because now they get to read with some
assistance. With Bookshare they can go back and
tell their peers
I read this book. That's wonderful!
I can encourage parents to use Bookshare more.
When I have my upcoming meetings at school. I'm going to talk with parents at the beginning of the year.
I can use email and talk to them by phone.
I think as parents see their children use Bookshare, they will begin to see
their success.
And then they can buy into the resources, as well.
