>>ANCHOR: Some runners are likely still icing down a bit after tonight's Chase Challenge.
Close to 10,000 runners from about 400 local companies took part in the annual race. 13WHAM's
Evan White was at the starting line, didn't race, but did cover this story. He's live
now to tell us what happened. Evan?
>>REPORTER: Ginny, the race ended hours ago, but there's still plenty of activity here
at RIT as crews work to take down the tents near the finish line. It was a race run under
perfect conditions, and one that runners say they thoroughly enjoyed.
>>P-A ANNOUNCER: Runners set.

>>REPORTER: Sure, everyone wanted to run in the Chase Corporate Challenge, but running
wasn't the sole purpose of being here.
>>COOK: Come back later when we're making the [something].
>>REPORTER: Sausages on the grill, drinks and good company.
>>BEV ZIEGLER: It's a great time to be together. You're not at work and you get to enjoy each
other's company.
>>REPORTER: Nearly 400 local companies engaged in what the county executive called the Rochester
area's biggest team building activity.
>>MAGGIE BROOKS: Have a great run and keep putting us on the map.
>>BEV ZIEGLER: I mean it's a fun activity and there's a lot of team unity.
>>REPORTER: Proceeds gathered through each stride went to help another team, Greater
Rochester's American Red Cross.
>>MELANIE SIMMONS: We\'re coming up on hurricane season. We saw last year, in August, here
in our area, in Wayne County, we had a tornado, we had hurricane Irene. We just had a microburst
in Seneca County. There are disasters that happen right here.
>>REPORTER: The chapter is expected to receive about $600,000 toward disaster relief efforts.
>>MELANIE SIMMONS: The money raised here today will help our local chapter here in the Finger
Lakes region be able to prepare for those disasters.
>>REPORTER: Despite the fundraising boost, the Red Cross chapter workers weren't sitting
around. Sarah Chambers ran here first race tonight and hopes to do it again, a common
theme among these teams.
Race officials tell us there were just under 10,000 runners. It was the third largest turnout
that the race has had in its 22-year history. Reporting live at RIT, Evan White, 13WHAM
