Hi I’m Dr. Adrienne Mulligan on behalf of Expert Village.com. Let’s talk a little
bit about water and the water your cat will consume. Water is obviously a very important
nutrient in everybody’s life especially cats. Although cats generally don’t like
water very much so some cats may not drink much water and actually some cats will do
better with canned food to get a little bit of their liquid if they are not big water
drinkers. Although that is a different story because canned cat food then makes it harder
to take care of their dental issues. But there are things that you can do to encourage water
drinking and some cats really like their water very fresh and some people have been known
to let their faucet drip on a slow drip or kind of a rapid drip and the cat will get
up and drink from that when they want it because they like it really fresh. I don’t have
a sample of it but there is a nice little cat fountain that you can purchase usually
in any of your pet stores that you can fresh water in and it pours it out and circulates
it fresh and it comes out like a fountain and some cats really like that. So in the
other part of water is that you really want to use the best quality water you can do.
Either your filtered water, your reverse osmosis water or bottled water if you don’t have
a reverse osmosis at home. It takes out the minerals and things that can be a problem
and cause the urinary tract issues that some cats get.
