Welcome to Active Learn Primary
This is a short video to talk you through the process of setting up teachers, pupils,
classes and groups
Only when classes, teacher and pupils have been set up can staff start allocating resources.
A school will usually nominate a member of staff to be responsible for the set up in
the first instance, to ensure everything is done quickly and consistently.
You can do this in any order but we recommend creating your classes first and then adding
teachers, assigning teachers to relevant classes and and finally adding pupils to their class.
Letís see how this is done now.
Create a class by navigating to the Classes tab, which is next to the Teachers tab, and
click New Class which is to the top left of the Classes list. name and save
The Cohorts and Groups tabs work in the same way.
To add a teacher account, navigate to the Teachers tab.
The ënew teacherí button is situated towards the top of the teachers list, beneath the
teacher search filter.
Adding a new pupil works in the same way...
Please note that we do not store information on childrenís passwords. We suggest you assign
easy to remember passwords ñ for example, their first name, or class name. If children
do forget their password, you can easily change them by going into the Pupilís tab from the
Admin dropdown. Click on the tick box next to the name of the pupil whose password you
would like to change. Click Edit pupil, which is next to the add new pupil button. This
will then allow you to change the pupilís password.
If you want to make changes to more than one pupil, such as changing their passwords or
what class, cohort or group the pupils are linked to, click on the tick boxes by the
names of the pupils you want to edit. Then click on ëBulk Edit Optionsí. This will
give you the option of changing password, Class, Cohort or Group of the pupils selected, allowing you to respond quickly
to pupilsí needs.
To add multiple pupils, use the Import tab which can be found in the Admin dropdown.
Thereís quite a lot of detail in this next section, but the system takes you through
the process and supports you so well that itís actually not difficult to do in reality.
You can either paste in pre-prepared information from excel spreadsheets or from word files
or you can type in the names individually. let copy some data from a spreadsheet
At step 2, Active Learn makes sense of the data for you, as you can see with the pupilsí
first and last names. But here the system prediction is not correct - as you can see
the username has the suggested header ofÖ.. you can select the correct heading
and When you are satisfied that step 2 is correct,
you could then click next step again or click step 3.
This will take you to step 3. Click Next step at the top right of the screen when you are
completely satisfied youíve provided all the information about your pupils.
You are given choices at this stage. Weíre going to choose automatic.
Once you have chosen which option you would like to import, you will then be taken to
a screen showing the pupils who are ready to import.
You can now see
all your pupils listed in their class.
