(Sarah Theodore-Young) I think it’s really great and really important that NIU as a school
gets involved in the DeKalb community. It’s a function completely done by NIU and I go
to school at NIU and I have plenty of Huskie pride so I’m going to join in whenever they
try and help the communities. (Lisa Hoversen) They’ve given me a lot so
I should give back to the community that supports NIU. And then it comes back, obviously, so
we thought it would be important to help out the community that believes in us and supports
us. (Brittany Evan) In our sorority we’re based
on community service a lot and I just feel like this is a big deal especially because
we are a part of the NIU community and DeKalb so I feel like it’s important every year
to volunteer and help out as much as possible. (Jarvis Purnell) NIU has cultivated and helped
develop some skills in me that I will be able to go out and share with the rest of the world,
so any opportunity that I have to give back to the NIU or the DeKalb community I’d definitely
take their offer up. I met a great fraternity group here today. Some of my residents got
the chance to speak with them and learn about each other. Life is short and you gotta take
every opportunity- not necessarily for yourself but also what you can contribute to someone
else and make their day better.
