Hello everyone, my name is Tasha and welcome to Heart of Tarts.
Today on the show, we will be making little Captain America Apple Tartlet things.
Captain America comes to theater April 4th and I did not want to miss out on the Super Hero Hoopla.
Like I did last time with the Avengers. I have no clue what was going on, because I barely watch movies.
I do like eating beautiful cute things and I saw an opportunity here, so I jumped on it.
Captain America Tartlets, here we go.
You want to start by slicing off the tops of your two big red apples.
You want to slice off the top, but you also want to find a nice mid point, where it is like the largest part of the apple.
Like the largest around, circumference point on the apple.
So you have a nice big surface area.
Next, scoop all that crap out of the middle. You want to core the apple and you want to leave about 1/4 inch
worth of flesh around the entire apple. But scoop all the rest of it out.
Set it aside. Do not discard it, because we will be using it later.
Next we want to create our filling. You want to puree your strawberries, along with one banana, 1/4 cup raisins,
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon, and 1/4 teaspoon vanilla.
Just let that go until it is a nice smooth batter of strawberry goodness.
You want to hull about 10 more strawberries and dice them into fine, tiny tiny pieces.
Fill you apple tart shells with your strawberry mixture and it will congeal a little,
because that is what strawberries and bananas do when they are let alone.
And then cover the outside of your apple ring with your first red ring of Captain America Shieldness.
Which is just your little tiny strawberry things.
Next, I am going to sliver a slice from the top of my apple and use a biscuit cutter to cut a circle that will
fit inside of my strawberries.
That is going to create my white ring on my Captain America Shield.
And if that did not work, use the apple stuff that I told you not to discard, the innards,
to create that white ring for yourself.
Next we are going to top it with a few more diced strawberries to create our inner red ring,
then we are going to top that with a couple of blueberries to create our blueberry center.
Like the blue part of the shield, you know the red, the white, the red, and the blue.
Lastly, I am going to take a slice of apple that I have left over and use my tiny tiny star cutter
for like cookies or something, and cut out a tiny tiny star to go in the middle of my Captain America
Tartlet Shield.
And that is it. I love this little tartlet. I think any and everybody could do it, but it is so cute and fun and creative
and it is just a good activity for anybody to do.
Especially people with kids or people who just want to eat more fruits and vegetables.
Whatever your reasoning my be, thank you so much for watching today.
Have a good Captain America movie viewing and I will see you guys tomorrow. Bye.
And I was thinking, maybe he is back to help the United States fight obesity.
Between his pecks and his peak human perfectionism, a Public Health girl can dream right?
Like he is fine.
