My name is Lynne Poirier, I'm a second year
family medicine resident at the Riverside clinic. What interested me about
family medicine? I've always been interested in family medicine.
so it was kind of clear choice for me. I was a nurse
beforehand, so love dealing with patients one-on-one, so
to me it was the best choice. I chose the University of Ottawa. I came here for medical school and actually
fell in love with the city
and also the programs
through Ottawa as well. I had heard amazing things about them, and got to see firsthand
how involved the instructors are and the preceptors are. So,
I really wanted to stay here. What I think I like most about my program is that it's
actually
close-knit, so we actually hang out with our peers
and preceptors of-and-on as well. We get together.
It helps with team building and I just find that the preceptors are really there
for us and really are committed to their patients. The advice that I would give to someone
who is applying here to Ottawa Family Medicine, is probably just be yourself
when you come here, because really what they're looking for is personality and to see if
you fit in with the team. So, it's more personable.
You find that they're looking for people that
want to work on their team, and that they would want to work with in the future.
